Hi everyone! I'm new to the bump and I'm moving home to East Lansing this weekend! My husband and I are excited about TTC this spring. I'm hoping that there will be ladies in my area who will be able to recommend a great obgyn in the area. I've heard great things about Alliance but I'm really interested in finding out if there are any other options or if this is best. Thanks!
Re: Moving Home!
I LOVE Alliance! They are so great. My doctor is Dr Guerin who is wonderful but I've met with all the doctors there at sometime or another and they are !
I go to Meridian Women's Health and like almost everyone there, with the exception of Dr. Russell. I like that it's a smaller practice and I never have to wait more than 10 minutes to be seen. I had hoped to be seen only by the midwife, Sameerah, but she was already completly booked for the month I am due when I transfered. I started out at Lansing OB/GYN and was not very happy- even with an early morning appointment, I often was waiting at least 45 minutes or more.
Just my two cents - I had three pre-pregnancy appointments and have had 4 OB appointments with Lansing OB/GYN associates and never waited at all? Maybe just lucky, but I've been really, really happy with them. Plus the location is super convenient to both work and home.
Welcome to the area!!!
LOVE Alliance!!! I have seen Dr. Halvorson for years and she is amazing, we had Trouble TTC and she made things so much easier. I love all the doctors in the practice and Dr. Gurien delivered my son in April and she also delivered my niece and nephew. There is not one person in that practice who I have ever not cared for, all super nice and caring. I also liked that if I had a concern during PG I got in that day or if I just needed a call they called me very quickly!
Welcome back home! Part of your decision should be what hospital do you want to be affiliated with. I have had experiences with both Ingham Medical Center and Sparrow emergency rooms in the last year. I think both are good but Sparrow is a little more up to date as far as medical records being digitized. We live closer to Ingham and when my husband cut his tendon we went there. I'm glad we did because they have a dedicated orthopedic hospital. I know people who've delivered at both and both say their experiences have been good.
I chose Alliance on the recommendation of my friend's sister who is a labor and delivery nurse at Sparrow. I had a miscarriage last year and the kindness and compassion shown by the staff at Sparrow Emergency Room and Alliance was great. I also see Dr. Halvorson and my Nurse Practitioner is Diane. I'm pregnant and 19 weeks along. It is a bigger practice and so you will cycle through most of the doctors so that you get to know them. I've had a good experience so far. I'm older so I opted for an amnio which Alliance does not perform at their site. (I went to MSU at the Sparrow Health Building).
My mother in law used to work at Meridian Woman's Health. She liked and respected all the doctors there. It is affiliated with Ingham.
In case you haven't already made a decision, I wanted to put in my plug for Alliance as well. Dr. Halvorson is my primary and has been fantastic. I'm 32 weeks along and have had some complications. All of the docs that I have seen have been fantastic. One of my decisions to go with Alliance is that they are affiliated with Sparrow, which has the NICU. So if we were to have troubles once the little guy arrives, we'll be right there with the best of care. Having just spent 2 days at Sparrow, I have to say that everyone there was wonderful as well. They always have an Alliance doc on call at Sparrow, so I was able to see the docs that know me while I was there.
The Alliance office also has ultrasound equipment, their own lab and tons of exam rooms, so you don't have to go offsite for additional testing.
Welcome to the area and good luck to you!
