Fort Lauderdale Doctor/Hospital Recs

Hello Ladies-

Sorry to intrude on your board but unfortunately I am at a loss regarding how to get this info!

I am 13 weeks along and recently moved from Orlando to Fort Lauderdale. I don't know anyone down here and am stressing a bit trying to find a new doc. I will need my next visit within the next month so I am trying to find a doctor asap to make the appointment.

Ill admit- im pretty terrified at the thought of labor and delivery (not to mention I have "white coat syndrome" in general and really dislike doctor visits!) It takes a very patient and understanding doctor to deal with a girl like me haha :)

If any of you ladies would be kind enough to recommend a doctor in my area I would be truly appreciative!

I think your missing a word unless im going crazy haha?

I am thinking you mean what specific county?  Health Insurance plan?  im just guessing here..

I am in Broward County (fort lauderdale) and will have Blue Cross/Blue Shield.  It appears my "choices" for hospitals are holy cross, broward general, and boca community (which is far away but I read great things on the boards about it so maybe worth the drive?)

  • Holy Cross is okay. My father is a doctor there, so I "grew up" in that hospital. I actually used to volunteer in L&D and the newborn nursery there for many years. It's needs updating, the rooms are old and some of the nurses are rude. Even with my history of the hospital, I chose to deliver both kids at Boca Community (even while living in Miami!!). I go to Women's Healthcare Partners and love them (again, after moving to Miami...that's how much I love that group!). I used to see Dr. Calvo at Holy Cross and was not impressed. Dr. Adeboyejo would probably be the only Holy Cross OB/GYN I would see.

  • I meant area. Fort lauderdale is a pretty big area. I'm more helpful with west Broward, Memorial hospital is where I delivered both of my boys. Good luck and congrats.

  • Boca Community (now Boca Regional) is definitely worth the drive, and it's only a couple minutes off of 95. I also highly recommend Women's Health Partners in Boca. All the docs there are great.

Good luck and congrats on your pregnancy. :)

  • I live in Fort Lauderdale but my doctor is in Boca at a very nice practice (Women's Healthcare Partners). They are very friendly and caring. My best friend had her baby at Plantation General and was very happy there but if you do decide to go to one of the Boca doctors they use Boca General and West Boca. I will be going to Boca General. The website for the OB is https://www.whallc.com/ They had midwives and doctors. I was seeing Dr. Rachel DeVaney for normal OB visits but since I am having twins (high risk) I am seeing Dr. Lauren Feingold, both are excellent ladies. I haven't had any negative experiences here in my 5 years of going here.
