Can you put an ice pack in with it? The kids at school bring it for their lunches with ice packs in the lunch box and it stays that way for about 4 hours until they eat and its fine.
Ok, I usually hate to use this argument, but I used to take them to school with no ice pack in Caribbean heat with no a/c. I have never seen one go bad.

Thats what I was thinking. Those things tend to be so processed that I doubt they are capable of going bad quickly
I've thrown them in my bag a few times and they are fine. I've also done that with these little cheddar cheese blocks I got at Costco, also fine. If I'm afraid the stores will be warm, I'll fill her sippy with colder then normal water and put that next to the cheese - dual purpose, less stuff to carry than an ice pack!

They don't go bad that quickly. Just throw them in your bag and go, no ice pack needed..
I've eaten unrefridgerated string cheese that I had in my dorm room for several days.
Not sure that I'd feed that to LO though.
