What
is a "rule" you have for Facebook? Ex: Accept all friend requests or
selective? Get involved in debate, or more interested in connecting on
music and photos and social events? Do you look at people's profiles? Do
you delete comments or posts you made? When you like a "business," what
makes you interested in doing that?

Re: Been quiet for a while .. but I have a FaceBook question ...
Wow lots of questions there
You'll obviously have to do whatever level you're comfortable with. I'm one of those people who likes to post lots of pics of DD status updates of what I'm up to, etc. But I know a lot of people who refuse to even post pics of their kids and never do status updates.
As for me I have my privacy settings so you have to be my friend to see anything whatsoever. I will "debate" things like music and popular culture but I avoid topics like politics. I use FB mostly to connect with my friends and family but I have "friends" that are aquantainces from high school who I haven't spoken to in 10 years. I look at people's profiles if I'm posting on their wall or if I haven't seen them in a really long time.
I have only once deleted a post/comment I made, but that could be b/c I purposely don't post anything that I wouldn't want up there. Most of the businesses I've "liked" are ones owned by fellow bumpies or friends/family. I do it to support them. I also "like" Baby Half Off b/c I like to see the daily feeds of the daily deals. I also have Mommysavers which posts coupons and good deals to my feeds so I am aware of them.
My family has even used FB to organize most of our social events, which is nice b/c it's so much easier than everyone calling everyone, or one person being responsible for coordinating an event. We use it to organize our Holidays as well
But that will only work for you if your whole family is on FB! My dad is a FB junkie...which is kinda weird. LOL.
And as far as friend requests- I only accept people I know in person, besides a few bumpies who I've gotten to know online and have befriended them.
Hope that answers your question- at least for as far as what i do!
Thanks, that's some good information!
Others, give details or feel free to only answer one thing if you want!
1. selective about friends
2. like to connect with people so don't really participate in debates
3. I post photos, but they're all set to friends only. I'm unsearchable too, and if you do find me, only my profile picture shows
4. I do look at other's pages
5. I'll delete posts if it's for something stupid, like telling the world I updated my info
6. I only like pages I actually like. Right now I have less than 20 liked.
I run my own business which has a "fan" page. Sometimes clients find me by looking up my name and therefore they want to "friend' my personal page. This is where I rant about things or post pics of the kids, etc. so not somewhere I want a million random people necessarily. So I'm a bit selective. I will friend people I know and then message potential clients with a link to my "fan" page so they know where to find the business info. they're looking for.
Some of my potential clients might think that's kind of weird but again, I have all my personal information there--where I went to school, pics and names of my kids, pics of my house....and potential clients are really strangers even if they become paying strangers.
Ok that was a long rambley answer--but sums up why I'm selective. Even if I friend someone I know--if they piss me off or constantly post annoying crap, I delete them.
I had a male friend from HS that I essentially grew up with. Didn't know that in the 10 or so years we'd been out of touch that he'd become a very outspoken racist. He constantly posted inappropriate jokes which weren't that big a deal but he posted about 16 updates a day and most were race-related, hate the president related, etc. it got old. So I deleted him.
Another friend would post long political rants anytime I said anything like "I voted today." It was preachy and obnoxious and she would argue with my friends and family (who she didn't know) in the comments on the post--so I deleted her too.
I only "like' pages I really like so I don't have many--but some companies like Target, World Market, etc. will post special coupons, links to contests, etc. and I like to have those.
