I found one on clearance for $25 at Homegoods. It's always hit or miss there but it's worth taking a look.

Not sure about nursery rugs specifically, but I was just in Target today and purchased a 5x7 rug for $40, they had some wayy more expensive ones, but for that size I thought it was a pretty good deal...

I wanted just color blocks for DDs and found one at Lowes of all places. Target has some basic area/throw rugs in colors often used in kids rooms. Near the kid decor aisles.

I got a lavender one for DD's room at Target. It's really soft and looks cute. I don't remember how much it was, but I'm pretty cheap so I wouldn't have paid a whole lot! LOL

I've heard good things about the rugs at Overstock.com but I haven't ordered one from there yet so I really don't know.

How about rug tiles? You can find a box of 6 tiles for less than $50. and if one gets dirty you can just pop that one tile out to clean or replace. And you can mix tiles.
