Ride on toys?

When did your LO figure out how to use his/her feet to scoot along on a ride on toy? I've been trying to show Jake how to do it, but he just shakes/bounces his body forward to shift the toy.

Both of my boys had no clue until they saw another child their size do it.  I think it was the "that looks like fun" moment.
