What kind of foods are being served at your shower?

Im not throwing my own shower but since Im a control freak they have let me be apart of planning it which has been a blast and I was wondering was kind of food is usually served at showers?

My mom is throwing mine and just sent me the menu, YUM!:

Philo dough cups w/ cream cheese and mango chutney

Wanton cups w/ oriental cabbage salad

Bruschetta and olive topenade (spelling is wrong i know lol)

Hummus w/ veggies

Cream cheese w/ jalepeno jelly on top w/ bagel chips

Spinach Dip in a bread bowl

Mini Quiche and Mini Frittata

Spinach Spanicopita

My world revolves around food these days... I'm pretty excited!!!!

The host of my shower asked me what my favorite foods are. At my shower we had pigs in a blanket (made with Lil'Smokies), mini-cheeseburgers, chips and queso dip, fruit with chocolate sauce, etc. I'm a junk food junkie!

Mine is today and I requested a few foods for it, but I stuck to the basics of what is served at showers I've been to around here.  We're having pasta salad, potato salad, egg salad sandwiches, a deli platter with rolls (I think), meatballs, probably a fruit salad, and cake.  Drinks will be punch, coffee, water and maybe tea.

We had a mid afternoon shower and served:

chicken pesto skewers

shrip skewers

spinach dip

fruit/veggies with dip (they were arranged like a bouquet)

artichoke pasta salad

caesar salad

pinwheel turkey wraps

lemonade, iced tea (reg and decaf), water and coffee/tea

cupcakes

watermellens

My shower was at 11 a.m. so we did brunch - bagels, fruit, yogurt, baked eggs and danish; eggplant parm, wings and salad.

Mine is also a brunch style shower and I too an i bit of a control freak so i have been happy that i could help with the menu.

 I/we are having:

Eggs

Bacon

Sausage

Mini Potato Pancakes

A belgiun waffle station w. asstd. toppings

A fresh fruit display 

tossed salad

lemon chicken

rice pilaf

iced tea, hot tea, coffee, punch, water

cake and mini pastries. I cannot wait.

I think what is served just varies on what you like or crave. I have been to several baby showers and the food is always different. At mine my mom and sister, who are throwing the shower, are having walking tacos and queso dip for the 'main' course because I LOVE tacos.Then they are having cake balls, cookies, strawberry shortcake, and other yummy desserts.

I love when someone says they are a control freak and want to control things in a shower someone is hosting FOR them.  

I just wish the next line was "I can't believe that the hostess told me to take a hike and find someone else to host it I wanted to be so controlling."

How about be grateful and be quiet?  You don't get the right to control something someone else does as a gift.
