Table foods

What kind of table foods did you start your LO on?  MC has been on purees for about a month now and we haven't had any issues, he seems to really like them.  But I know pretty soon he'll want some of what we're having or something with more substance/texture.  Also what age did your LO start table foods?  MC only has 2 teeth thus far so I'm not sure what kind of stuff he'd be able to eat.

Re: Table foods

  • M only has 1 tooth (and it just came through on Wednesday) but she eats almost anything as long as we cut it into small enough pieces.  We started her out with pasta (mac n cheese) and then moved to things like green beans, pintos, limas, banannas, puffs, yogurt melts, etc.  Pretty much anything that she can mush in her mouth.  She still has a hard time with things like apples and pears because you can't mush them since they're so rigid.
  • We started with puffs, yogurt melts and tiny pieces of bread.  Then moved onto crunchies, pasta and chicken.  Now he eats whatever we eat as long as its not too spicy.  We still haven't introduced peanut butter or chocolate.  No history of allergies, just nervous!

And DS only has 2 teeth, too (at least 2 more are coming down!)

  • We started with really soft cooked veggies, and pasta, then moved on to chicken, crackers, and pretty much anything else we ate as long as it wasn't really spicy.  We also still haven't done peanut butter because I am just nervous about it for some reason.  No family history of allergies or anything and we have also gotten the all clear from the pedi but I still haven't done it.  I am thinking of waiting until 18 months for it.  She eats pretty much everything else though.  Oh also bananas were one of her first and still a huge hit :)

We started her at 7 and a half months...she didn't give us a choice.  She was refusing purees.  She had 2 teeth when we started so we just made it really small bites.
