Parenting after 35

My FFFC

I feel so guilty right now.  I should have brought my oldest (Owen) to his 30 min. make-up speech session at this time (from missing 1 hour last week due to the snow).

But, it was during Keegan's nap time (I mean smack dab in the middle of his nap) & I could not get him down earlier (school day).  My Mom cancelled on me for watching the 2 younger boys (which is a whole other FFFC) - otherwise I would have brought him.  It was just too much work for a 30 minute session with three kids today & a snow parking ban & missing naps ; (

He did go to his hour this week, but was struggling with the new sounds he is working on.. but I can work on this at home instead & we do all the time.

Just feel like I am letting him down.

  • Awww!

You are clearly doing your best!  That's all you can do, really.  *hugs*

  • things happen.  He'll end up in the same place at the end (no speech issues) so I don't see why making a decision to have others suffer less during the process is bad.  Good mommy decision all around from a triage perspective.

  • I thought it was some kind of universal law that thou shalt not mess with naps or mother nature. Go easy on yourself, you're doing the best you can for the whole family.

  • When you have three kids that means you have many balls in the air.  Sometimes you can juggle them all and sometimes you have to let a ball or two drop.  One 30-minute missed speech session will not doom him to a lifetime lisp.

  • Agree with everything pps have said, especially that naptime is sacred!  Honestly just getting 3 kids up and dressed and fed every morning seems like an overwhelming task, and you should be patting yourself on the back every day for that!
