Parenting after 35

FFFC Anyone?

I'll start!

The other day *I* was exhausted.  The house is still a disaster. Boxes everywhere. I haven't had the energy to unpack or organize.  DH would help but one of us has to watch A, as my parents cannot.

So when I was home due to the snow, I put Aaron down for a nap around 2:45 (later than usual, but he took a long nap in the A.M.) and he fussed around while I zoned on my bed. I fell asleep for a while (about 30 minutes).  When I woke up, Aaron was still awake!   THEN he fell asleep.

I left him in the crib for a full hour before he fell asleep while *I* napped.  I feel guilty even though I know he was safe and playing quietly with his crib toys.  But, to be honest, I'd do it again if I was that tired.

  • Hey, he was happy and safe, nothing wrong with that!  :)

  • I do that all of the time!!  Matt plays in his crib for an hour before falling asleep. And on the weekends in the morning I let him hang out in the crib if he is happy before getting him. Just so I can get more sleep!

I totally agree! It's not like you fell asleep on the couch and let him have run of the house or something!

I usually don't do FFFC, but here goes - I haven't had my hair cut in seven or eight months. I am so overdue for a cut and highlights that I am too embarrassed to go!

  • This is not flame worthy...any tired (or not) parent would do this.  I wish thomas would quietly play in his crib like that.

  • I don't see the problem. I usually leave Keegan in his crib in the morning until he really let's us know he is awake (not really a crib screamer) & I will cuddle with Liam & Owen until we are ready to get the one that does not sit still & ready to start our day.  Keegan will usually just talk to his stuffed animals or something ; ) until we get him...

  • yep, not even worth of a puff of smoke let alone a flame.  we'd all do that or have done that.

  • P'shaw! If he was happy and secure in his crib then what's flameful about you catching some zzzz's?
  • In fact, just yesterday Ada and I napped together - she in he crib and me in the bed. I am almost certain that I fell asleep before she did :-)

  • That's right - you left him in the safest place - don't see a problem at all.

  • No flames here.  I'm guilty of leaving Leah in her crib playing while zoning on the bed.  They're safe and happy.
