Do you ladies suggest getting a sound machine or white noise machine for the nursery? If so, which one do you love? I remember reading about the homedics spa machine, but not sure if that is the same thing as white noise machine. Would love if you could post a link to it! thanks!

We just got the Homedics Lullaby Sound Machine...and we love it. You can use it on the lullabys or you can use the heartbeat sound or the ocean. My kids love the ocean sound and go to slepe so easy. Best 20.00 I ever spent.

I just downloaded an ocean waves song from Itunes and have it on repeat on the ipod and it plays all night on one of those radio docks.

We have it in the nursery and it works great.  It stays on all night and we can have it loud of soft.  We usually play Rain or Ocean.  We do not use the weird light on the ceiling thing and it is a non-issue on the unit itself.

I like that after we get through the baby phase we will still have a good clock/radio.  And it is small and flat so we easily take it with us when we visit family over-night.

I have a cheap fan left over from my dorm days in college. It's about 8" tall and fits perfect under their crib.

I bought the Homedics SoundSpa Lullaby. We loved it -- until the projector burnt out and now won't play the projector discs. Ugh. We still use the white noise every night though. Ocean waves or Rain plays pretty much all night in the background. Makes me sleepy!

We bought a Vicks Cool Mist Humidifier to use as a humidifier for the room, and it gives off great white noise.  2 birds- one stone!

Sleep Sheep!  THey love the heartbeat.  I think I will use it after theya re done with it.

Homedics Lullaby, runs all night or on timer, babies love the projection more than the $50.00 crib soother. Found it in store for $19.99- one of the best purchases I have made.

I have The First Years Sounds for Silence. It's worked wonders for us. It has lullabies as well as white noise sound, and can be set for 1hr or go all night. It's been a life saver.

This, except we downloaded white noise and run that on a loop all night. We have a sound machine, but it's not loud enough. I prefer to just use the iPod with little speakers. It's more portable than the sound machine we have, too.

I have the Homedics SoundSpa Lullaby and I love it.. it plays either music or white noise.  We have it set on "rain" and have the fish projected on the ceiling all night.  We also have the humming of the humidifier in their room too.

After trying a few different things that don't keep it on indefinitely, I picked up this on amazon, and put it on the cd player on continuous loop for naps and nighttime.  Works like a charm and I have no problem if they want it for a long time.  i figure I can work on lowering the volume if I want to wean them down or off of it.
