It's pretty weird that I've never done this, I know.
So the thermometer instructions say to use a water based lubricant, not vaseline... So what do I need to get? Do I seriously need to go buy some KY or astroglide or something, lol?

Re: Rectal temperature ?
We use a probe cover on the thermometer and then Vaseline. I'm guessing the need for water-based lubricant isn't necessarily based on the thermometer, but more likely the ability to read a true temp internally. I'm no doctor, but that's what I'd guess the recommendation is for.........
But that being said, I've never had an issue with vaseline use.

Thanks ladies - this is what I ended up doing! I was thinking they might say that because it would be harder to clean off afterwards if you used vaseline or something not water based
