Temporarily lactose intolerant due to stomach bug!

We all came down with another stomach bug the week before last.  Everyone is over it except DS1.  He has been having serious diarrhea ever since.  I've had him on the BRAT diet for days and nothing has helped.  Our washing machine has been running on sanitary mode for a week.  It has been really horrible for him. He seems so tired and weak.  He has been screaming and crying all the time. 

Yesterday several doctors agreed that it could be a temporary lactose intolerance caused by the stomach bug.  Ever have an experience with this?  When I heard this, I just knew (and am really hopeful) that this is what's going on.  I did some research and it really sounds like it.  I have been pushing regular milk like crazy because I wanted to keep him hydrated and he loves milk.  I've also been feeding him cheese lately because he needs protein and he loves cheese. So last night I went out buying every brand of lactose free milk hoping he would like one.

He has been dairy free for 16 hours and no diarrhea and no crying and screaming.  Wow! If this is it, I would be so so happy.  I am praying we have solved it.  We will keep him off dairy for a week or so and then bring it back slowly.  If you've experienced this, please chime in and if you haven't, it's good to know about.  I had no idea it was possible but so happy for a solution.
