ok...I procrastinated!

What if any classes do I REALLY need to sign up for in preparation for our twins.  I am 28 weeks today, and haven't signed up for anything.

I was considering signing up for a breast feeding class, but I've heard they teach you in the hospital or you can meet with a lactation consultant as well in hospital or after you've gone home.  I doubt they teach tandem breast feeding in the basic breast feeding classes but I don't know.

I also considered a "twins preparation" class, (for lack of a better term) but the ones in my area don't start til the beginning of April, and the babies will either be here already or on their way soon enough.

My husband and I are both CPR certified so we don't need that class.  I was a nanny for 6 years and know a lot about infant care, but I understand that is nothing like having your own, or twins for that matter, since I never worked with newborn or infant twins.  Also my girlfriend who is due in about 2 weeks said that her infant care class talked about putting clothes on the baby and giving baths which thankfully my skills are far beyond that.

I am also researching moms with twins groups to see if that is going to be the best resource for me.... thoughts?

Please help!! I would love some advice :)

  • I would take a BF class. I took one and found it very useful even though they didn't cover tandem nursing.

  • When I took a BFing class before DS1 was born, the LC briefly covered tandem nursing.  I didn't take any classes before the twins were born.  I could see taking a BFing class, but if you deliver when the LC is there (the hospital I delivered at only had 1 that worked every other day) then it's a non-issue.
