TTC after 35

First RE appt

Well, my first RE appt went well, I think.  Obviously don't know anything yet, but the good news is that since I am cd4 I was able to get most of the blood work done today.  Couldn't get in for the HSG next week as they were booked so I had to decide if I wanted to go on BCP to push it off a week and get in on the 7th for that test or if I wanted to wait until the next cycle for the test.  I really don't want to have a month where we couldn't be ttc so I'm opting to wait for the next cycle for that test.  So, the only other test I have to do this cycle is bw 8 days after +OPK to check my progesterone level.  So, we're on our own for at least 2 more cycles. A little frustrating, but at least we've started the testing process.

DH and I also have had a couple of really good talks the last couple days about all this and I feel like we're more on the same page then ever and are truly in this together.

So, while my week started out not so good emotion wise, I'm doing better now. But really ready for the weekend. lol

Re: First RE appt

  • Hi Aurora! That is great news that you were able to do your cd3/4 bloodwork today. I am with you, I wouldn't want to wait a cycle just for the HSG. Besides I'm not a fan of BCP so I wouldn't want to take them for other reasons anyways.

Being on the same page at this juncture, especially given all the decisions that need to be made and the severity of them, is really such a blessing in a marriage. I'm really happy that you and your DH have that. We've been there, haven't been at times but are again, and its definitely so much better this way.

Best of luck, let us know how the b/w results are!

  • Glad to hear that you are on the same page with your DH. I think my visit to the RE helped get my husband more on the same page with me than he had been previously. So that is a nice benefit. It is too bad though that they can't fit you in for HSG this month. Where I went, they will book you in with any available RE for the HSG procedure, and they do them all the time, so I was lucky to get in on my CD11 after having my first appt on CD1. Did they do an ultrasound on you to check out your ovaries? I got this done on my first appt too, was nice to have some initial look at how things were going in there.

Well, this is a one doctor practice, so I'm stuck with having to wait until she's open.  No, there was no ultrasound done.  All they did was a medical history (2 times, first with the nurse and then with the RE) and the bloodwork.  The thing that sucks is that they won't give me the bw results until all the testing is done so I will have to wait until after the HSG to get any of my results. She said this is because each test only gives a piece of the picture so they don't want to discuss what any of it could mean until they've all been done.  So, we're just going to have to go along like normal this month.

  • Glad to hear you are feeling better and have made progress with getting DH on board to do something, if you need to. Waiting for test results is not fun. In a way the doctor is correct to not give you pieces but  of course I always want the pieces anyway to play Dr. Google!
