Toddler Meals

My almost 3 year old has gotten extremely picky with eating.  I need some advice on healthy meals.

The only foods she likes to eat are: eggs, pancakes, ravioli and mac & cheese.

Help!  What are some other things I can try with her? What are your kids eating?

Re: Toddler Meals

  • Those do have some good nutrition in them, so no worries.

Have you tried beans? crackers filled with stuff? yogurt smoothes/pouches/cups?

french toast sticks (freezer section), different fruits? veggies with dips?

  • Miles likes anything he can dip.  Try quesadilla pieces (with either cheese or beans in them - or whatever else you want!) and salsa to dip.  Or cut a sandwich into strips and give her some dressing to dip it in.  Or crackers in warm peanut butter for a snack.  Or fruit pieces in a fruit or cream cheese dip.  The possibilities are endless, and it really has helped Miles.  Lunch today will actually be homemade chicken nuggets with BBQ sauce.

  • Thank you ladies!  Yum, everything sounds so delicious!  Or maybe it's because I haven't eaten lunch yet lol!

Quesadillas--great idea! Haven't thought of those!

  • I have a blog carnival every Wednesday of healthy kids meals. Maybe you can find something in there that your daughter will eat. Last week someone posted a homemade chicken nugget that looks interesting. Other ideas is to name the food something wacky and fun.  I let my son pick out vegetables at the grocery store and farmers market.  If he picks it out, then he will eat it. Lately we have had a lot of mushrooms and carrots.
  • DD is in the same stage yours is.  I've found that she will always eat pasta shapes with red sauce or cheese.  She also loves red sauce with cheese on mini whole wheat pitas.

I puree vegetables then add them to the sauce for some good veggie vitamins.  Any time something in my fridge is about to go bad -- carrots, cauliflower, sweet potatoes, and broccoli -- I'll steam and run through the food processor, then freeze in plastic bags by the half cup.  I just defrost a bag and add it to her pasta sauce.
