Peyton - Boy or Girl?

A friend named her son Peyton.  When I first saw that she had a baby named Peyton I said "Congratulations on your new baby girl" and I really offended her.  Is it really a boy name as well?  For some reason it just does not seem very masculine to me!

definitely unisex but i tend to think of a girl before a boy, too. yea there's peyton manning but i've heard tv characters named peyton, too, and they were pretty girls with curly blond hair.

Yes I have heard of Peyton Manning.  I still see it as a girl name though! LOL.

I have seen 1 of each boy (Peyton Manning) and girl.  I don't think it's a very girly or manly name

I definitely think of it as more of a boy name, but I've known a female Peyton too.

I think it's more girly... and yes, I do think of Peyton Manning too... but I know a little girl named Peyton, and she is one of the girliest girls you'll ever meet So I like the name b/c of her

I love this name for a girl and really wanted to use it but my husband refused because he said it's a boys name!

I think it started out a boy name but I only know little girls with this name, it's quite popular in my area on girls. A little too popular, I think it's a strange name and doesn't roll off the tongue very easily.

This is my husband's pick for our baby boy. I do NOT like it - and you proved my point that it sounds like a girl name! I agree that it is unisex, but I immediately think of a girl when I hear it. I should show him this thread...

My 5 year old nephew's name is Peyton. I dated a guy named Peyton once. Never known a girl named Peyton.

I have a Peyton (boy) that lives directly behind me, and a Payton (girl) that lives directly in front of me!  Popular, and goes both ways

It is a boys name that is now supper common for girls.  I babysit a little boy named Peyton and he is going to be in a school full of little girl Peytons!
