TTC After a Loss

Let's talk about pee, I think I might be weird.

Reading Cashew's post, I think I must have a permanent UTI or the smallest bladder in the world. I pee at least every 2-3 hours during the day, and at least once in the middle of the night, even though I go right before I fall asleep.

When I was pregnant it was ridiculous, it was hourly or more and I woke up every 2 hours overnight.

So, how often do you pee? Am I weird or is this normal? Embarrassed

As for me...I can hold my pee. I am a nurse and have at times had to hold it, so my bladder has learned to be patient at work. I know it's not good for you, but there are times when I just cannot get away! When I'm home, obviously if I drink tons of water, I have to go every couple hours, sometimes every hour.

  • I drink a lot of water throughout the day, so I pee every hour or 2. I also get up in the middle of the night once in a while. not every night, but it does happen.

when i was PG it was probably every 30-45 mins. Annoying!

  • How much water/liquids do you drink?  If you drink a lot of water, that's totally fine.  I find myself peeing on average 6-10 times a day.  When I wake up, twice at work, when I get home, and about 3 more times before I go to bed.

You're not weird!  If your urine is clear, you're good. And if it's still dark, it might be bc of the vitamins you're taking.  Drinking coffee and coconut juice always makes you go more often!

  • I pee every few hours or so. Sometimes when I am on road trips my friends give me such a hard time. I have only had had one UTI, though, right after my honeymoon too. There were definitely other symptoms for me, like burning and irritation, plus a constant urge to urinate. It was no fun :P I'd say you'd definitely know it if you had one. I have heard that there are medications for some people that don't have an infection, but still have that constant urge to pee. Good luck!

  • Okay, phew, looks like I am just weird for wanting to talk about pee so much. I do drink a lot of water, and most days I also drink coconut water.

  • I pee a lot - we're talking about once every hour or so (and not just a little pee, lots - sorry if TMI).  But, that's because I drink tons of water.  I used to be a camel and only drank water when I was thirsty, but about 2 months after I delivered I had kidney stones (major, major pain).  The docs told me to drink tons of water to keep from getting them, so I guzzle about a gallon a day.

  • I drink alot of water so I end up needing to pee every few hours as well.  Although needing the bathroom every few hours is nice while working.. gets me away from my desk for a few minutes.

  • I can go a whole day 7:30 til 5:30 without pee'ing if I'm at work. If I'm home, it's probably every 2-3 hours as well. I always get up in the middle of the night to pee, at least twice.

When I was pregnant, it was every commercial break. We went to Hawaii when I was 8 weeks and had to use the bathroom a dozen times. It wasn't more than a 6 hour flight.

    I think you're normal.

I'm a nurse too. I'm lucky if I get to pee twice during my 12 hour shift. On a normal day I probably pee every 3-6 hours depending on what I'm drinking.

  • I'm awful at drinking water. Shame on me! I go maybe 3 times during the day and once before bed. I never wake up in the middle of the night to pee though. If I start drinking more water and/or more coffee than my pee needs increase.

  • for me it really just depends on how much water i drink throughout the day. i do typically have to get up to go once at night though but i am a light sleeper and once i'm awake and feel the need to pee i have to go otherwise i can't fall back asleep.

  • In a 12 hour shift- I'm lucky to have the time to pee once- i usually have to go at about the 4 hour mark, then by 8 hours realize that I still haven't gone and then finally go by 10 hours- its no wonder that nurses have such a high rate of UTIs!

  • I think I am the opposite end of the spectrum. I usually only go 2-3 times a day. As a teacher, I think I have trained my body to only go during certain times of the day!

  • Very likely just means your kidneys are workin' well hun! If you didn't have good water intake, then I'd be concerned..or if you have strange color, odor or a cloudiness to the urine. Its really not good for you to not urinate often..can lead to problems with bladder, kidneys and increased likelihood of infection.

    I say, pee away! Smile

  • yup, i pee a lot and drink a lot of water.  I don't drink water after 8:30 pm, so I don't have to get up in the night to pee.
