I have never had dry facial skin before I got pregnant. I moisturize twice a day but can not seem to get it under control. Every morning i wake up it is like my skin on my face is flaking away. Does anyone have any ideas on what to do to help this?
Have you tried aloe vera gel? Apply it after you get out of the shower. Also, eat foods rich in vitamin A (sweet potatoes, milk, carrots, spinach, mangos, apricots...) and vitamin B (bananas, kiwi, turkey, potatoes...).
You can always try a deeper/stronger moisturizer or if you want you can add a little extra vasoline over the dry areas to lock in mositurizer (might be a little greasy on pillowcase) but it really does work! I used to work in a spa and we loved that tip!
All of the above (I've had dry skin off and on for years) but another thing is using an exfoliator (gets rid of dead skin so helps with that icky flakey feeling) and at night use a night cream instead of a lotion (cream is basically thicker). And the regular things like drinking water, etc. I'm fighting dry skin too - but more on my legs, ugh.
People are getting to get sick of me saying this - but you should totally invest in a Clarisonic. I got lazy about using mine when I had m/s and felt like poop all the time. I started breaking out and getting flakey - charged up my Clarisonic, and no problems since! I use it at night with a gentle cleanser like Cetaphil.
Another option is Vanicream (it's OTC but it's usually behind the pharm counter at Walgreens and Target). It's like $15 for a giant vat, but it's highly recommended by my Derm. It's oil free, etc. You can use just a little at night until you get the moisture in your skin built back up.
