My current swollen ring size, according to the paper cutout thingy is 6. I know I am more 4.5/5. I am thinking of ordering the 5.5 and then getting it sized down after I have this baby.
This can be done, right?
PS. This is my wedding ring replacement ring. DH gave me money to "upgrade" from my $24 one I have now. LOL. I have liked this one for ages and have been waiting for it to go on sale, since there is no reason to pay full price for stuff at Macy's.
Re: If I buy this ring from Macy's, I can take it anywhere to get sized right?

I have a similar ring and was told due to the channel setting you couldn't have it sized.
I could be wrong, but that's what I was told.
I don't see why not.
On a side note, that's the wedding band I have. We got it a Kay Jewelers.
As long as the channel setting doesn't go all the way around the ring, you will have no problem getting it sized.
Tri County. Ask for Sam at Diamond Roof. He does all my jewlery. Honest and good prices.

mine does go all the way around.
That ring is more of an illusion channel, looks like a channel but if you look realllly closely, there's little "picks" of metal holding the diamonds in place (as opposed to a traditional channel, with full grooves cut in on each side of the inside of the actual channel) You could probably get away sizing it down to a 5, maybe a 4.5 but no smaller, before you started to run into problems with the integrity of the setting.
If you want my most humble, unsolicited opinion, you may want to reconsider buying diamond jewelry from Macy's. If this is going to be your replacement ring that you want to wear for a long time, the quality of materials just isn't all that great (weight of setting, quality of diamonds). I'm a merchant by profession and I know where they source their goods from. It's just not worth the price you pay, even the sale price.

Living After Losing
My wedding ring had to be sized and because my fingers are kind of small, size 5, they had to make my engagement ring oval so that it didn't compromise the integrity of the ring. They could only go so small before they couldn't have made it any smaller or it wouldn't have worked. I chose the oval-ish ring since when it's on your finger nobody can tell. If you need to go to a 4.5 I wouldn't risk buying that ring somewhere and then sizing it elsewhere.
And, ditto PP on not buying from Macy's. They dont' have a good reputation for quality goods and are way overpriced even on sale.
