My LO seems to be nursing less often during the day now that we are doing solids (makes sense), but seems to be wanting more overnight. He wakes up around 12a, 3a, and 6a wanting to eat and he takes a full feeding each time. When he nurses during the day he doesn't even seem to want very much... just a few minutes and either gets distracted or starts fussing. I've heard to get them to sleep better overnight they need to take in adequate calories during the day, but how can I get him to do this? He's probably full from all his night feedings... ahhh! Help!
Re: BF'ing and solids and nightwakings... oh my! Please advise.
I can't help you with the night wakings, bc unfortunately Ds is still getting up at night to nurse. I'm *stillhopeful*
Have you tried to limit the amount of solids he's getting? Maybe only offer him 1/2 of what he's takiing in and offer him BM more often?
Be sure to BF first and then give solids and try nursing more often during the day to get the calories in and then if you are willing to try CIO or some sort of sleep training try cutting them out one at a time.
My LO always took a full feed each time she woke and it was still habit - if it's there, why not!! She was getting up 3-4-5 times a night before we did CIO, feeding each time and we cut it down to two and now just one = proving that she did not need the night feeds.
