We found out we were having a girl yesterday and pretty much had our minds made up that we would be calling our little girl Story. Now we need a middle name. I love Story Anna and DH loves Story Rae. I might have come up with a compromise that DH says "doesn't sound bad" which means he doesn't hate it and he's thinking about it. Story Anna Rae (Brand) <---last name. Do you think it would be too much to have 2 middle names? What would she put on papers that ask for your middle inital?
Re: 2 middle names?
When DD was born, we wanted a mn to honor both our moms. Their mn's are Ann & Marie, so K's middle name is Annmarie.
What about Anna-Rae? Technically one name, but you get to use both.
My DD has two mn's so I'm fine with that.
But Story Anna sounds like one word when you say it. So I actually like Story Rae Anna much better! If you both like those middle names I say go for it!
I like 2 middle names, but I don't like those... I think it is one thing if it is after someone or something like that... but just liking 2 names.... eh. What about Raeanne instead of 2 of them.
ETA: Sorry I hadn't read the previous responses. I still think Rae first sounds better... Anna Rae sounds super old southern.
My husband has two middle names and we'll probably do the same for our kids. However, I'm much more amenable to it when the middle name has meaning. My DH's second middle is MIL's maiden name. His first middle is for a saint, because he's Catholic. So there's more of a reason for each one than "my parents liked a bunch of names and couldn't decide."
He hasn't encountered a problem. For his middle initial he uses the initial of his first middle name. The only time he uses all 4 of his names are for things like diplomas and our wedding invitations. Obviously he doesn't hate it, since he suggested we do the same with out kids.

Agreed, we didn't do two middle names simply bc we couldn't agree, its tradition in my family and I wanted to continue it. We also always do MNs for family members, you can tell by my tickers that both my kids MNs are also quite long, I am sure they will be fine.

I have two middle names. My mom wanted to name me after my grandmother and it just didn't flow well. When she added in the second middle name, it just sounded better (and the initials were much better).
I have had some issues with government/formal paperwork because my full name is too long. My driver's license has a hyphen between the two middle names because they cannot have a space and they cannot have two middle names, my original SS card didn't have my second middle name because at the time it wasn't allowed. When I got married and changed the name on my SS they were then able to put both middle names on the card but they don't fit, so my second middle name is short one letter on the card. I have given my license to people for random paperwork or whatever, and on many occasions I have been asked what name they are supposed to use. It is a little bit of a pain at times, but not really anything major.
When I sign my name I use my first middle initial, but when I initial something I use all four initials. A few friends and family members call me by my four middle initials.
