TTC After a Loss

Leaking progesterone question

So this morning I took my first progesterone suppository. (Kind of weirded out that they look like Skittles, but that's another issue altogether. lol) Anyway, I put it in about three hours ago, and have noticed that quite a bit of it has already leaked out. I did anticipate some leakage, but this seems like a LOT. And its bright pink, so I know it isn't just CM. Is this normal, or am I doing it wrong? I just want to make sure these babies are doing their job!

Re: Leaking progesterone question

  • Are you taking it more than once per day?  If you're just doing it once then I would do it at night right before you go to bed (that's what my dr suggested).  I still had some leak while I was sleeping, but it was pretty minimal.  Nothing a panty liner couldn't handle.  I would occasionally have some leaking during the day too, but it was very little.

  • Not sure which one you are taking? I took endometrin twice a day both cycles. The leakage was pretty bad. About three hours after inserting it I would have a "gush" of thick white liquid. Even though I was wearing liners I would have to make it to a bathroom quickly to prevent it from leaking. After the initial gush there would be two or three lighter leaks afterwords. VERY VERY Messy.

Yes, I'm supposed to take it twice per day. I was debating taking the next one before bed tonight, that is a great idea! I did use a pantyliner today but it already feels soaked. Ick.

I'm taking prometrium, and what you said pretty much describes my morning to a T. I guess I'm glad the leakage seems normal?

  • Yes I experienced that too.  I took it twice a day - once in the AM and once at night before bed.  In the morning I tried to do it right before I left for work and would be sitting in the car for an hour driving.  But both morning and evening I noticed some leaking.  Don't believe it's an issue though.

I know it isn't fun! I can share a funny story about when I was taking it the first time.

I was sitting at my desk at work and felt that "gush" for the first time and made a run for the bathroom. In the hallway I got stopped my one of the guys that sent me sales referrals and he would not stop talking. During the conversation all I could think about was "I am pretty sure stuff is leaking down my leg". Sure enough when I got to the bathroom I had white leakage all down my leg (I was wearing a knee length skirt that day). Oh brother...the things we are going through to get that "take home baby", it will all be worth it when we have a healthy little one in our arms.

LOL, oh my gosh, how mortifying! That is pretty hilarious but I'm sorry it happened to you! Note to self: no skirts during the 2ww! Wink
