I have an odd situation with scheduling mine.  We found out yesterday that we lost our baby, but are supposed to be going away with my BF and her DH for our 30th birthdays - I never expected to spend my birthday planning around the loss of our baby. 

So, my question is - do I schedule the D&C for tomorrow or wait until we return on Monday?  If you've had one, what was your recovery like?  Do you think it's possible to have it done and then be functional a day or so later?  I think that I'd almost like to just get it over with and allow this weekend to take my mind off of it for just a second, you know?

I had a very easy recovery and I felt a little better when it was all over. I couldn't imagine going away knowing that I had to come back for that. Most people do not have as easy a recovery as I did. I had no cramping and only bled for a couple hours. The emotional pain was far worse than any physical discomfort. If it were me I would do it sooner rather than later, but everyone is different so I really can't answer for you. GL. I am so sorry for your loss!

thank you - I really think that I need to do this soon.  This trip was supposed to be so different - I was going to tell my BF about the baby and now I feel like I have to quietly grieve because I don't want to ruin her birthday, too.

I'm sorry for your loss.   Definitely schedule the D&C for as soon as possible.  

Let me tell you my story and you'll understand why I say that.   I had a missed miscarriage, I didn't find out until 13 weeks that I had lost the baby at 10 weeks.  So for 3 weeks my body did NOTHING.   I found out on a Thursday and was scheduled for a D&C the next Tuesday (that was the quickest I could get it done).   I started to miscarry naturally that Saturday and wound up in the ER Sunday morning for an emergency D&C.   

I'd hate for something like that to happen to you on your get away with your friends.

i would do the D&C i had alot of clouser and by the time i got home i felt totally fine like and the next day i was 99% myself again.

I am so very sorry for your loss.  I was fine physically the day after my D&C, but wasn't in a great place emotionally.  I really only had pain directly after the procedure in the recovery room, but I do not do well with anesthesia so I was rather sick the rest of the day and slept a lot.  Your situation seems like a very personal decision.  For me, I would want to have the D&C ASAP even if it means risking missing the weekend.  Sorry you're having to even make this decision.

I had a very similary story - starting m/c naturally right before my D&C, which was FAAARRRRR worse than the D&C itself.  I would hate for that to start for you on your trip.  I'm sorry for your loss, and I hope the surgery goes smoothly.
