Ok so me and my soon to be husband have decided on two names one for a boy and one for a girl. Laviolette(prounounced laveeeohlette) Marie for a girl and Wyatt Ulysses for a boy. We wanted something somewhat original.
Wyatt Ulysses is fine. Wyatt is the #60 name in the country, so if it is important to you that the name be unusual, you may want to reverse the names (Ulysses Wyatt).
I think Laviolette may cause some pronunciation and spelling problems. If Violet is too common for your taste, perhaps Viola would be a good option.
Laviolette reminds me of what would happen if you combined the work lavatory with toilette. I would much prefer the name Lavinia.
ETA: Just read the other posts and think it's rather amusing that several of us had the exact same idea about lavatory and toilette. One person got the hockey reference. I think that might be your answer if you were looking for a "what will people in the general population think" sampling.

I like Marie! Laviolette... well... I agree with the other posters about lavatories and toilets and lava lamps coming to mind. You can name the kid whatever you want, obviously, but I think this one is worth reconsidering!
Ditto. I think the suggestions of Viola and Lavinia are great. Laviolette is nice as a last name but seems laughable, to me, as a first name. Violette would be fine, though.
Re: Opinions on the names we have chosen
Ironically enough thats what his mom said lol. I think i might decide on a different one my fiancee got that from a hockey player lol
I dislike Laviolette immensely. What about Violet/Violette?
I just can't get into Wyatt, but I LOVE Ulysses for a mn.

girls name emindsme of lavatory and toilette combined
i have never been a fan of wyatt and dont know what i really think of Ulysses
I think Wyatt Ulysses is a great name. It's strong, masculine, and has a kind of stately Old West or Southern charm about it.
But I'm with PP on Laviolette. It sounds pretty....euro-trash. Sorry. Violet or Violette would both be lovely alternatives.

I grew up with a guy whose last name was Laviolette. We called him "La Toilette" which is 'the toilet' in french....
Wyatt is common in our area. It's an okay name.

Wyatt Ulysses is not my style, but it works.
Ditto.

I love Wyatt, it's our choice for a boy too.
I really dislike Laviolette. I agree that Violet Marie would be an excellent choice.
This, exactly. I instantly pictured a bathroom when I read that name.
