Changes in moles

I know that this happens during pregnancy but to what extent? I'm really just worried about one in particular. I have the derma look at it once a year and she says it's fine but it has gotten bigger and much more raised. Am I just being paranoid or is it worth having her take a look?

i have one similar but hasn't discolored,, have been thinking of getting it looked at but haven't yet. Not too worried about it,,, if you are, get it checked out,,,

Not trying to scare you, but I had one when I was pg with dd and it got bigger and raised and it turned out to be melanoma. Derm removed it and I had the blood work and chest X-rays, etc and nothing else came of it. My ob was surprised when I went back for my pp check and had the stitches where it was removed cause he said had I asked him about it, he would've said it's normal for them to change during pregnancy. So it's probably nothing, but worth checking out IMO.

Thank you, good to know and I'm glad yours turned out ok. I'll probably make an appt just to be safe. I know my obg will tell me it's normal but I'd rather hear it from a dermatologist

My understanding is that you should generally look for asymmetry when it comes to mole changes, i.e. big and/or raised isn't really cause for concern but asymmetric shape is.  However, I have no idea whether or how that "rule" applies in pregnancy-related mole changes, so I would get it checked out for peace of mind.

Changes in moles are common in pregnancy but its definitely worth getting it checked out.  If it doesn't urgently need to be removed, they likely won't touch it until you're not pregnant anymore

I disagree with the last poster. I've had several moles removed for biopsy and there is no reason why they wouldn't be able to do it while you are pregnant. They just numb the area topically - which is less than what happens when they prep you for an epidural. I'd call. It never hurts to be sure!
