No to ranch dressing? Please enlighten me ...

A woman at my storytime today said she hated that she had to give up ranch dressing while pregnant.  Trust me, after having had a loss I am a stickler about what I eat and don't eat when pregnant.  To the point that it is almost ridiculous. But never have I heard that you shouldn't have ranch dressing?  This can't possibly be true.  She was adamant though, and I don't think any of us wanted to debate it with her.  Someone please share if you have ever heard of such a thing ...

I have not heard of this either.

I know we are not supposed to eat home made mayonnaise because of the raw egg / salmonella risks.  Thats the only thing I could think of but is Ranch made from raw eggs?

I'm too lazy to check ... but does it have raw egg in it??  That is the only thing that I could see, maybe it is like mayonnaise?

No clue on that one though.  I am a pretty big stickler as well, and that has never come onto my radar!

Ranch is fine, cesear dressing has raw eggs, but not the one you buy in the supermarket, only the fresh kind in restaurants. Your friend is a wackadoodle.

ah, i didn't even think about the mayo thing.  still, if you are buying hidden valley, etc. you will be fine.

I live off of ranch dressing.  LOL.  So where can we find a list of items that are not good to eat when you are pregnant?  Does anyone know?  I am going for my first appt tomorrow, so I will ask.  My daughters are 8 and 12 so I am trying to remember what I couldn't have with them.  I feel like i am starting all over again though.
