does your 6 month old sit up?

my 6 month old is not sitting up on her own yet. i know many other babies at 5 & 6 months are able to sit up and some even crawl. i get nervous about her development.

My first son did not sit up on his own until close to 7 months. One day he couldn't do it, the next day he did. He never used his arms to tripod or anything. He was also a later crawler and walker. He is not delayed at all, he was just slower to hit those first milestones. He is now a super smart 3 year old :-) All babies develop at their own pace, try not to worry.

DD started sitting on her own shortly after the 5 month mark. She was overdue by 10 days, so I jokingly say she was already a month old when she was born

DD has been sitting on her own for almost a month.  For the first couple weeks she would "tripod" but now she just sits up without any support from her arms.

Don't compare! Some babies begin tripod sitting around 4 months, others at 6 months, and some won't bother with tripod sitting and just sit on their own later.

For us, it depends on his mood. He sat for the first time earlier this week all by himself. Granted, he only lasted about 30 seconds before doing the slow timber all the way to the side, but that was the longest 30 seconds ever! I was so thrilled.

Today- nada. I think he is coming down with something, though.

Lilly is technically sitting alone, but I have to sit her up and balance her.  Sometimes she does it, sometimes she tips over. I'm trying to get her to roll from her tummy to her back still, she's been rolling back to tummy for a month lol. This morning she started using her arms to push up, like for longer than 2 seconds. I wouldn't compare!! One day LO won't seem interested, the next day they will!

Stop comparing. She'll be fine. I was a lazy baby lol I sat at 10 mos and walked at 15. No medical reason whatsoever. For what it's worth I grew up to be on my University Track and Rowing teams I may have taken my sweet time but once I learned, I never stopped!

DS has been sitting since around Christmas. And only really well in the last couple weeks,.He has been able to stand since he was 3 months old and can stand while holding on to something (so long as he's balanced). With that being said, he can't roll and hasn't even come close to it.  and tummy time is always a fail.  Don't worry, it will happen.. every kid is different and does things at different ages. I've heard of some kids walking at 8 months and others at 14 months.  The only advice I can give is practice.

Love this. Great to know as I'm also worried about DS sitting. He just flops right over.
