Miscarriage/Pregnancy Loss

Is it worth it to get a pelvic ultrasound?

I really don't want to go and get a pelvic ultrasound done if it's not necessary (money/stress wise). However, after my first pregnancy/miscarriage, which just ended...we're anxious to TTC again in a few months, and I don't want to go through this a second time...

My story in brief:
-Quit taking BC in early Dec to TTC, got withdraw bleed right away
-Jan 14: went to doc for no AF and weird lower butt cramps/twisty twinges near vagina ... HCG level = 12
-Jan 18: HCG level = 31 (meanwhile, having random strong menstrual-like cramps)
-Jan 20: HCG level = 9 (have one mini bout of nausea - nurse says it's a pregnancy symptom, heavy "period" - really dark/wine red - sets in...cramps get super bad but then I replace tampon with pad and that seems to work)
I'm still spotting bright red, but no cramps or anything.

(sorry if this is TMI btw)

Why I'm concerned:
-Obviously have never had a MC before, so I don't know what to compare it to. Maybe I had a really undeveloped ectopic pregnancy? Is it possible?
-I had chlamydia in 2007 (was treated and doctor has since never worried about complications arising from that) but I've always worried I've had PID this whole time...which of course can lead to ectopic pregnancy.

Would a pelvic ultrasound give me enough info to make me feel at ease about my fallopian tubes? Is it possible I had an ectopic pregnancy without realizing??

If this is clearly a regular early MC, I'd prefer not to stress over it any further. It's already claimed enough of my life, heh. But if there's a decent chance I had an ectopic, I'd like to find out the cause of that sooner or later.

As always, thanks for your input.

  • Thanks that was my hunch, too. There aren't that many great articles that compare EPs with MCs, so I figured some good old first-hand experience would be better.
