Cloth Diapering

Finally had our baby & started cloth! Question...

DS is EBF so his poops aren't really super gross to start.  Am I right that I can just toss them in the wet bag as is?  I don't need to spray them or rise them first right?  I am doing my first CD laundry right now but before my last two rinses I smelled them & I could smell a little poopy (although I could see nothing).  I washed them with Rockin' Green & followed the directions on the bag.

Re: Finally had our baby & started cloth! Question...

  • In theory, the poop is water soluble so it should wash out in your machine. I don't think washing machines do that great of a job getting gunk out of fabric, so I plan on spraying each one anyway. I hate stains and your diapers will definitely stain if you don't rinse.
  • Yes, you can just toss them right in until you start solids. As long as the diapers don't smell at the end, then everything is clean and good.

What does "before your last two rinses" mean? You mean after they spun out with the soap still on them?

I rinsed, then did a wash with soap & then I did two more rinses- because thats what Rockin' Green suggested.  When I smelled them the soap was technically out.
