Hi ladies. I hope you don't mind me peeking in over here from the IF board. I was just looking for a little reassurance. I had my first IVF in November which resulted in a BFN. I am now gearing up for IVF #2 and am having a hard time mustering up the enthusiasm I had for the 1st go round. I was wondering if you had a failed IVF and then went on to get your beautiful BFP on subsequent rounds if you could post it here. I would also love to hear if they changed your protocol and/or you did anything differently-i.e. supplements, acu, bedrest. Thank you so much and hope you are all well.

Re: Success after failed IVF?
I had 3 unsuccessful IVF attempts before my final one with a BFP.
I did change protocols, started acupuncture and taking DHEA. But this is based on my Dx - poor egg quality and DOR which is all probably age related in my case.
After 7 years trying to concieve, 3 failed IUIs and 2 failed IVFs, my third IVF was a success!
My Christmas baby turned into a turkey bird! Dillon Richard was born at 34 weeks, 5 days on November 28, 2009 after 10 weeks on bedrest for preeclampsia.

Yes indeed!
I did one fresh long lupron cycle. 3dt of two embies - BFN
FET with 2 of our 4 frosties from that cycle - BFN
Then, I did another fresh cycle, this time flare protocol (at my request), did a 5dt of 3 blasts and got a BFP. I also did one acu treatment right after the transfer, and took herbs the acu recommended to help with implantation.
Good luck to you, hon! Keep the faith!
My 1st IVF was a BFN. My 2nd was canceled before ER/ET. My 3rd was my BFP.
I was so sure I would get pregnant with the first one that went it failed, I lost so much hope. It was hard to have a positive attitude going into the next one. By the third one I was very much "whatever happens, happens". I can tell you that there were many days that I put on my happy face and charged on...but that is just who I am. In the end, because I was so much more "whatever" about my 3rd cycle, I think I was less worried and stressed about it.
We changed things up with each cycle...that info is in my blog. The failed cycles were definitely stepping stones to my BFP.
This
I wrote here about how different my ET felt (FET) from the first go round. Confidence=GONE. Optimism=gone.
BUT, it worked, so go figure.
I did an antagonist protocol for my fresh cycle and a patch protocol with lupron and BCP for the FET, plus 3 months of Lupron Depot and a 2nd lap for my FET.
Another success story here! We did our first IVF in March of last year, and retrieved 16 eggs that produced several embryos, 4 of which were classified as "perfect" blastocysts. In fact, our RE only wanted to transfer 1 because of the high risk of multiples with these embryos. Needless to say, we got a BFN.
We then did an FET in June with two of the frozen "perfect" embryos. Another BFN.
This time around, we did another fresh cycle with no change in protocol with the RE. However, I started doing acupuncture right before the cycle. My acupuncturist also had me drinking a supplement every day. We retrieved 10 eggs, and not one made it to blast stage. We transfered two morulas on Day 5, and honestly the RE didn't give us great chances for success. Surprise---we ended up with twins!
All of that to say, there is definitely success after a BFN. There's even success with ugly-looking, non-perfect embryos. I honestly believe the acupuncture did help, as it was the only thing I really changed on this cycle. After each transfer I rested at home for a couple of days, and then just took it easy until the beta.
I'm so sorry about your BFN, and I'm sending you many T&Ps for this next cycle. Best of luck!!!

What I did differently: the new RE immediately said I need to be on PIO, not Progesterone suppositories as I wad before. Also, I had a scratch biopsy pre-ET, which is like an endometrial biopsy except they scrape all four uterine quadrants. This is a fairly new part of the protocol, based on a study out of Israel that reports higher success rates. Also did pre and post ET acupuncture.
