Trying to Get Pregnant

False Unicorn Root to help conceive

Hi...

Last night I came across a website in which a woman discussed the herb, "False Unicorn Root" which helped her periods become regular, hormones become regular, and she achieved pregnancy. I did some further research on it, and it is supposedly all true. Has anyone heard of this herb in help to conceive? ANy success stories of women you know who have taken this?

  • Dude, I've seen you posting on multiple boards about this sort of thing (last time, it was on the baby boards, asking about FertilAid).  Why don't you link us to your further research that supposedly says it's all true?  I'm sure the ladies here would love to see it.

Talk to a doctor and then try vitex, green tea, pomegranate juice, and/or B-6 supplement instead. Or, heck, if your doc approves, try FertilAid or Fertility Blend and get several of those supplements from a single source.

There are plenty of natural fertility boosters that aren't made from endangered plants and aren't listed as potentially unsafe for consumption.

I seriously think of you every time someone brings said False Unicorn Root up.  Ah, your humor on it in the past makes me chuckle.  Big Smile

    That link is scary!

OP, I chatted with you yesterday regarding fertilaid.

How long have you been trying? I see no harm in you asking this or any of your other questions, but I would consult your ob/gyn and if you haven't been trying very long, then a pnv/ maybe extra folic acid should be all you really need.

Most of these products treat "symptoms" of something or other and notice that symptoms are in quotes.

    Good luck!

Sorry about that! Embarrassed I'll try to keep my PIPs in the "non-vomit-inducing" category from now on!

Haha! I don't know about getting KTFU, but you might sh!t rainbows for a week or two.

That was actually along the lines of what I was searching for. I was unsatisfied with the "unicorn fart" results I found. :)

Yes, like most women who are TTC, I am curious about fertility supplements which would increase my chances of getting pregnant. So, that is why I have been posting about various supplements and/or herbs. I have questions that maybe others on here may have experience or knowledge on, and can help me....or I can help them....the whole point of a discussion board.

SInce you asked about my research.....here is a discussion thread I started a few days ago....it was related to figure out if the active ingredient in Fertilaid, Vitex, has some sort of link towards miscarriages. A lot of women were very curious about this just like me....so the last three posts are all my findings on this particular topic:

    https://community.thebump.com/cs/ks/forums/thread/48244368.aspx

In regards to the False Unicorn Root, this is what I had read last night about it, and sparked me to start learning about that more. Hence, it is also the reason I started this thread we are on right now:

"Ok...found a REALLY good discussion board. After reading this, I am almost 90% sure I am NOT going to take Fertilaid due to it containing Vitex.

One woman suggested another herb that can help you conceive, and also prevent miscarriages. It is called False Unicorn Root. I have never heard of it, but it's worth looking into. Here is a quote from the discussion board that really caught my eye in terms of this herb vs. vitex:"from a naturopathic point of veiw the herbs like False unicorn root help to balance your own body's hormonal regulation not actually take it over like prescription drugs.  Although some herbs are stronger in promoting progesteroen production hence the reason they are not used in pregnancy such as vitex. "Here is the link to the discussion board (it's lengthy.....but worth taking your time to read it if you are taking Vitex, Fertilaid, or thinking of taking these products like me.

Awesome! I just started researching about it last night. Have you known anyone who has gotten pregnant by taking this herb? Any side effects? Miscarriages?

Do you take it only whole TTC and then discontinue once you confirm a pregnancy?

Thanks for the link:) I purchased Fertilaid a few days ago, and was going to start it today, but I researched for hours last night and the active ingredient in it, Vitex seems to increase chances for miscarriages. Therefore, I am not going to take it. Instead I started taking Fertile CM today.

Thanks for the well-wishes.  But like PPs mentioned above, I think you missed the intended sarcasm.  Good luck with your "research".

Thank you so much:) I really feel that these discussion boards are here so we can all help one another through our TTC journey.....unfortunately in posting for a few days now, I have realized that some people believe differently about the intentions of this website as a whole. Thank you so much for your support!

BTW - I know we were chatting back and forth under a different Thread "Fertilaid and Miscarriages". I did my research last night as promised, and I posted all of it. I decided I am not going to take it. For now, I am just taking the Fertile CM....cheers to hoping for a little one soon:)

:) I don't understand why you are getting the feedback you are! You are researching fertility aids you have read about and asking questions. There is nothing wrong with that and nothing in your original post to warrant anything but curiosity.  I am totally curious!

I like your posts and I never would've thought there could be a link to fertilaid and my m/c and I think that is a really good topic to debate! I hope you stick around.

Good luck to you and just a suggestion, put something in your siggy, it will help people recognize you and maybe you won't be mistaken for a troll! lol

I am looking forward to what you find out next...

  • Personally, a name like "false unicorn root" sounded fictitious to me and I took it as a joke. I had no idea such a supplement even existed. You have to admit that something that references unicorns in relation to fertility tends to bring out the snark in people. I didn't mean to offend you, OP. I don't believe in herbal medicine so I personally wouldn't try it

Baboo, you're right.  My bad for shooting off posts like I did and not giving her the benefit of the doubt (and my apologies, OP).  I saw her previous posts on 6 - 9 over the weekend and the initial reaction was that she was trying to sell something, so my first thought when I saw her post today was "troll".

I appreciate your apology:) It's been a tough Newbie journey for me on here:( Everyone keeps attacking me...and all I want to do is have a support system while I TTC. Again, thank you for you apology.....it means a lot.
