Success after IF

He's started crying when I drop him at daycare

dammit.  I know he likes it there, and that he stops shortly after I'm gone...but damn, that makes it tough to leave!!  Crying  I thought I had a few more months until separation anxiety (at least according to that parent's magazine that threw me for a loop last night...lol!  Stick out tongue

Re: He's started crying when I drop him at daycare

  • I don't think it ever feels "right" dropping them off, but it does get easier. This morning, right before we left the house, Henry fell. No visible injuries, but he got himself all worked up and cried half the way there (a 10 min trip). Once we got there and he saw his teacher, he smiled and practically leapt out of my arms into hers. Now... which is worse: leaving your kid when they are crying or knowing that he likes his teacher more than you?.... I don't really think that he likes her more than me, and I'm glad he loves her, but sometimes it would be nice if he wanted to stay with mama. YKWIM?

  • ((hugs)) The days E cried at dropoff were the worst. I'd linger in the hallway out of sight and she usually stopped within 60 seconds. It made me feel a little better.

And that's why I'm glad DH normally does drop-off! I get to miss any tears and instead I get to catch the running toddler who can't wait to hug me when I get there to pick her up. :)

After 20 months, 3 Clomid cycles and 4 IUI cycles, IVF #1 with ICSI = BFP!

  • Awww, that is the worst. I'm so sorry he started so young. Toodle has SERIOUS separation anxiety, particularly with me, and he started that around 9 mos. at daycare (but didn't cry when daddy dropped him). Then he was ok for a while but when he switched to the toddler room it was AWFUL. Big, hiccuping cries, grabbing at my leg, the works. He stopped after a week though thankfully (and started again after the holiday break but we've had a couple cry free dropoffs this last week or two so fingers crossed).

I know when I pick him up that he's happy and had fun all day which helps, but it is so tough leaving when they're crying. Sometimes I try and wait in the hallway and peek in until he stops, but often he keeps looking for me at the windows which I think makes it harder.

    Hang in there!

      oh man...that's rough!!
  • Oh no! So sorry sweetie! Will still gets excited when he sees his teachers (and now his friends!), so I sort of, maybe, a little bit wish he would be bummed when I drop him off. Not really, but sometimes I have to wonder if he likes me! ;)
  • Just wanted to say sorry you have to go through that. It has to be hard even though you know he's happy there. :(

  • lol!!  We mommies are never happy, are we?  I can totally see myself being sad when he's so excited to get there too!  Confused  thanks for all the commiseration :)  It really does help to know that other people are in similar boats (or that someday I may miss this stage!)
  • Awww! That has got to be so hard! :-( sorry, hon...

  • Sad I know this is gonna happen once DD starts daycare - she's with my sister for now until she's 1, then we are switching her over. I am thinking of doing it early for this reason exactly...I will be SO sad. I hope he gets used to the center soon - I'm sure he will.

    PS - <3 the new siggy pic - he's adorable :)
