Parenting after 35

My little "home inspector" :)

We have dark hardwood floors that show everything. I usually swiffer every day, but even still, there are the inevitable fuzzies and crumbs. Well... Little Miss Sydney goes around and points them all out to me! She picks whatever it is up on the tip of her finger and holds it up to show me. I usually tell her that I'll try harder next time. ;)

But her favorite thing to do inspect is the gate at the bottom of the stairs. She takes this task very seriously. She rushes over as soon as she sees that we have forgotten to shut it. (Which is quite often and sometimes on purpose.) She swings it shut - then pulls it across - then tries to put the bottom piece into the slot. All she needs is help with the top. All the while, she is babbling and we just KNOW she is scolding us.

  • That's hysterical. I can just picture her little serious face with that gate. Our little inspector quit. She used to pick up the tiniest of crumbs & say garbage & come running for me to throw it out. Made us realize she's got good eyes!
