I spilled liquid on my 1 year old Mac Book Pro. Battery = dead, but the computer could be powered on by plugging it in only. Once you disconnected the power cord it would shut off. I thought I just had a battery issue until I got home yesterday and started playing with it. The space bar would place a /, the delete button now controls the sound, cap lock button came on when ever it felt like it. Obviously I had done more damage than I thought.
I took it to the Apple store knowing that this would NOT be covered and would void my warranty. The Apple specialist looked it over, explained that this was not covered under warranty, and that I was likely looking at a $800-$1200 repair depending on whether they had to replace the hard drive
After reviewing my repair history, he told me Apple would make a one time exception for me and basically re build my computer at no charge! I could have hugged the guy! I had to bring it home and back-up my data, but it will get shipped out tonight and will be delivered to my home in 5-7 days.
Lesson learned of course; no eating or drinking around the computer, but I am grateful for wonderful costumer service,
