My results came back and appartently my LO had 69 chromosones instead of 46. The OB said when this happens 85% of the time it is a partial molar pregnancy. She said that the placenta looked healthy so there is a chance that I am in that 15% minority but she won't know until further testing is done and will find out the results within 10 days.
If it was a partial molar pregnancy then I have to go every week for blood work for 6months and can't get pregnant again for at least 6 months. I thought the worst was over and we were starting to move on and looking forward to trying again and now this! I really don't think I can take anymore!
Does anyone have any experience with this? I have been researching it and everything I read talks about a "grapelike" growth with LO and that the growth takes over quickly. Usually there is no hb and the growth would be visible with the ultrasound. I had 1 intense u/s when I had spotting at 9 weeks and 2 sequentials. Once sequential was at 11weeks 6days and the baby was measuring a week behing but they told me my dates were probably off or that it was nothing and the baby would catch up. There was a strong hb the whole time. How could they not have seen this??? I'm confused, sad, and pissed off! Thanks for listening!
Re: f/u appointment...more bad news :(
My little one had 69 chromosones also. I had no idea that molar meant so much and the % was so high. Mine was NOT molar.
I had a strong hb at 7 weeks, and at 8w2d. I had some bleeding at 8w and 8w2d and why I was at the doc. everything measured fine and hb was fine. I miscarried the next day. I don't believe there was anything to 'see' to catch the issue at my point. There was definately no extra big 'bulge' of any kind, believe me, I held our little one.
I'm so sorry for your loss. I hope the testing comes back that this is not molar and you will be able to continue to TTC soon.
<<hugs>>
My first bean had 69 chromosones-Triplody and it was not a molar pregnancy. If your placenta looked fine you should be ok. Typically with molar pregnancies the placenta looks really odd in ultrasounds.
