Hey ladies,
I wrote a post earlier about a bad sinus infection that I have developed. I have done everything 'natural' as possible and it seems to be settling in my chest. Sinuses seem more clear, however, I feel like I'm trying to swallow a lump and I'm constantly looking for a deep breath..my chest is also sore when I press and upper back hurt.
My post earlier was before I put in a call to my OB. Nurse called me back and said he wanted to put me on a Z-pack. I will be 7 weeks tomorrow and I'm just nervous about taking it. I asked her and she said it was completely safe to take. I'm naturally a worrier, so here I am worrying! I'm worried about any effects it might have on an unborn baby and I'm also worried if I don't take it, then this sinus/chest congestion thing could turn into something incredibly worse!
My question is has anybody been on a Z-pack this early in pregnancy?
Thanks so much for your thoughts/advice!
Re: Z-Pack prescribed..nervous!
I don't know which antibiotic is in a Z-pack, but I was on 10 days of augmentin for an abscess in my nose (yes, yuck) when I was 4 and 5 weeks PG. The docs were not concerned, and I checked on safe fetus and its a class B so is okay.
Trust the OB though, they do know which meds are safe.
hope you feel better soon!
Go Phils!!
I also had a really bad sinus infection and was prescribed the Z-pack. We were TTC at the time and was too early to know if I was pregnant or not, so I let the doc know. She was very good at easing my fears. She said it was perfectly safe. She also told me that I could take Clariton-D to help after the z-pack was done. She checked the information on the drugs and made sure that she told me the safe ones to take especially at such an early stage.
I'm a bit of a worrier too, so I understand your concern. But don't worry, you and baby will be fine.....and get better soon.
Thank you thank you THANK YOU!
You gals have made me feel much better about taking it! I'm an elementary school teacher so I have figured that it would get worse as it goes along! I'm around too many germs....PERIOD!
THanks again!
I unfortunately have to take it too, so suspected whooping cough. I hate meds, so even though it's "safe" i'm not happy about it.
It's a good idea to take lots of probiotics while on it - antibiotics also kill the good bacteria in your gut, so you'll want to replace it as much as you can.
