5k runners...

Hi ladies! First time on this board but recently started my 2nd tri so I've been lurking on that board! I posted a question about doing a 5k run in April (I will be 7 months). I know everyone is different and so far my pregnancy has gone great, but was just wondering if any of you have done a race while pregnant? I have been doing this 5k Fun Run for 3 years in a row and never noticed a fun walk just cause I always do the run. How many of you recommend a 5k run at 7 months? Of course I will check with my doc but wanted to ask you ladies first. TIA :)

Re: 5k runners...

  • I see no reason why you cannot run a 5k at 7 months as long as you are already a runner, have been consistently running during your pregnancy and have no complications

Just listen to your body and your doctor and you will be fine.

I haven't done any races while pregnant, mostly because of winter.  But I am still consistently running 2-5 miles a couple times a week.

    Good Luck!

  • Just FYI, almost all 5ks have a "walk" portion also so even if you sign up to "run" but would prefer to walk when the race comes, no one will stop you.

    Good luck!

  • I didn't race pregnant, but some of my friends have.  I stopped running at 24 weeks.  Once I "popped" and really got a belly, running was not comfortable any more so I switched to power walking.
  • Thanks ladies...appreciate it! See the doc at 16 weeks so I will check with her and let her know!!
