I prefer Fay, but only because that is the way my grandmother spells her name. I like it as a mn, in fact it is on my list.

I personally wouldn't use Gaye unless it is after a family member.

I prefer Mae and Rae to Faye.

I wouldn't call Gaye 'taboo', but I would probably avoid it.

Either one is okay for a middle name (I like your spellings, with the E), but like PP said, I wouldn't use Gaye unless there's a reason. I've never actually heard just Gaye used as a name. What about Gayle? Gail?

I love Faye for a middle name and think the meaning is sweet.

I have only heard Gaye for a last name. If it's really important to you I think it's fine. I prefer Faye though.

I love the name Faye! It was my grandmother's name so we've been thinking about it too.

Taboo aside, I really don't care for the name Gaye.

I like the name Faye! It is my mom's middle name and we have been talking it-- glad to see that people don't think it's completely terrible... I think my name tastes must be changing b/c I remember not liking this when I was a little girl, but now I think it is very pretty! Good luck!!

I love Faye. We are considering it as a first name for our daughter, but I think it's an awesome choice for a middle name. I think Gaye is pretty, but I do worry it would be a bad idea to put this name on a child.

My sister's MN is Fae. I think it's a pretty, underappreciated MN.

For me, the jury is out on Gaye. I think it's okay as a MN, because few people will ever know. Then again, I can't see it being a name a girl would be thrilled to have.
