Cloth Diapering

Q about line drying

I've been cloth diapering my son since the beginning but we were in a very small one bedroom with no room to hang diapers so I've been drying them in the dryer.  We recently bought a house so I wanted to line dry since it's better for the environment and the diapers.  However, when I line dry the diapers and especially the inserts end up crispy.  When I put in the dryer, never using fabric softener, they're nice and soft.  Any ideas?  Is there something that I need to change in the wash cycle?

Re: Q about line drying

  • Nope, that's what happens when you line dry.  If it bothers you, toss them in the dryer for a few minutes to soften up.

  • That happens with all of my clothes. I always just throw whatever it is into the dryer on either a fluff cycle or just a short 10 minutes.

  • yeah, I just fluff in the dryer for 10 minutes to make them softer.

  • I have pockets and line dry the shells, but machine dry the mf and hemp inserts.
