has anyone taught themselves adobe indesign?

Any good tutorials out there? I need one: "InDesign for Dummies - the very Basics" and I'm not having much luck. Many of them describe special features and skip over the steps of how they actually got there.

Re: has anyone taught themselves adobe indesign?

  • I have, but I knew Quark XPress first, so many of the operations and tools are the same. Try a different book - I like the Adobe Classroom in a book series:

Adobe InDesign CS5 Classroom in a Book

  • I have inDesign for Dummies... and I still can't figure out what the hell I am doing with it.  I spent the better part of 2 days yesterday cussing and swearing at the book, the program, and my boss because of it! LOL!!

  • Get the classroom in a book. I used those in high school and college for learning Pagemaker/Quark/Photoshop. Also..if there is a university near you see if they offer classes to faculty/staff that you can pay to attend. I've gone to one of ours and it was good but since I'm not using it daily it's hard to get used to.

  • Thank you!

I'm going to get that book. I'm also attending a seminar but I have a feeling it will focus a lot on photoshop ... which will be good but i need to learn indesign too.
