3rd Trimester

What do you think? Kinda TMI

So I was up all night with diarrhea/ throwing up.  I have also had this constant headache for probably 3 weeks( I mentioned it at my last appointment and she said to let her know if it doesn't get better at my next appointment, which is on Thursday) the last couple days I have started to see spots and have woken up the last two nights/mornings with my hands being swollen.

DH is more concerned about the diarrhea/vomiting and I'm worried about everything else. .either way I feel like complete death and called off work today.

What should I do, where should I go? My family physician? L & D? Or nothing at all?

  • I'd call your OB and see what they recommend.  If you have a nurse hotline with your insurance it might be worth calling them too while you wait for the OB.  I wouldn't blow of the PCP either.  L&D would be the last place I'd go though.

  • I'm sorry. I would call at least and tell them what's happening, and in the meantime if you have a nurse's hotline probably call them too. I'm having similar symptoms but not as bad as you. Mostly headache, vomit and some diarrhea. So I can't imagine adding to that 3 weeks of headaches (only had mine since Wed) , spots and swelling. How has your BP been so far?

  • Call your OB. Are you holding down water? Dehydration can make headaches and swelling worse. If not that's your first issue to tackle- you can deal with not eating for a while but you need to be holding down water!

  • I am having all of the above and I am on bed rest for preeclampsia, call your OB!
  • Call your OB! This could be seriously high blood pressure and preeclampsia.  It is better to go to your OB and have her tell you everytrhing is fine than to wait and put you and baby in harm's way.  Plus OBs are typically pretty good with general medical questions/problems too.

Good Luck. Hope you feel better

  • Like PP's have said, call your OB. Make sure you're drinking plenty of water so you do not dehydrate also.

  • the swelling and the seeing spots I was told can be a sign of high blood pressure. You should def call and let them know what is going on. I was told to call them if I started to have those symptoms since being treat for PTL.
