Diaper Genie Elite or Diaper Dekor ?

Which do you think is better? I thought that I read on here that one of them you can use regular garbage bags..I just can't seem to remember which ones. To me that would be a big Pro and of course also which one is better at keeping the smell away!

I was also debating between these two pails. Baby Bargains says that the Genie II Elite has an anti-microbial coating, which controls odor. The downside to the Genie is that you have to push the bag into the little hole and you just drop it in the Dekor. Turns out to be a lot cleaner.  I think the Dekor can use regular trash bags.

we love the diaper genie elite II...don't mind the bags at all...you can start a new bag at any time because you just tie it off...it does not smell at all!

The Dekor comes with a special long bag that you cut and tie off whenever you want to change it.  But I still think you might be right-- I don't see any reason you wouldn't be able to use regular trashbags in it if you wanted to.  Though I don't have a baby yet, so I haven't had to actually change out the bag (it came installed).

We're going with the Dekor because we're planning to use mostly cloth diapers and occassionally use disposables.  With the Genie, I'd have to untwist the bags to get at the cloth diapers and honestly, that is just too much time up close and personal with dirty diapers for my taste.  With the Dekor, I won't have to untangle the bag to sort.

The Genie is super easy and controls the odor wonderfully. I don't know what tiny hole the PP is talking about that you have to put the bag thru. It is just really easy to use.

Well, a couple of PPs  might be thinking of the older diaper genies.  The Diaper Genie II Elite does not twist the bags and you also don't have to push the diaper in there - you just drop it in... Not sure if that helps.

My cousin uses large trash bags for her DS Diaper Genie...since the refills are about 5-6 bucks a pop....

We have a DG Elite, but only use it for poopy diapers to save money on the bags.  One refill lasts us months.

We have the Diaper Champ and that one you can use regular trash bags with.  I am very happy with the odor control
