Let's plan a get-together in the city!
We could.......
1. Have brunch at Yolk, John's Place or Wishbone (open to suggestions)
2. Try Family Grounds Cafe (never been there, what do you think of this place?)
3. Have a playdate at Pump It Up (the inflatable kid play place)
4. ???
Re: City GTG
i'm open to brunch at john's place or wishbone (i live near roscoe village). or family grounds cafe for that matter.
i'd be willing to have a playdate at Pump It Up, but are a lot of the kids age appropriate?
I have never been to any of those places so I have no opinions of them. I learned what they all were through google though. Google is my friend lol.
My son is only 2.5 months old so #3 would be pointless for us but #1 or #2 both sound like fun.
DS is probably too small for #3, so #1 or #2 would be fun for me!
If the southside girls don't mind coming up north, I love Wishbone (on Lincoln) and John's Place in Lincoln Park is super easy for me (the one in Roscoe Village could work for me too, but it doesn't have the advantage of being right next to Sweet Mandy B's!
).
I think brunch or lunch is a great idea for the first GTG. That way we can talk and won't have to be keeping an eye on the mobile kids at a playspace.
Are weekends best for everyone or is anyone open on a Monday or Friday?
I'd love to gtg, however, DS is currently in the won't-sit-still phase, so going out to eat can be really challenging for us right now. If anyone would like to meet at one of the playspaces (Family Grounds Cafe (I love this place!) or Little Beans Cafe) as opposed to a restaurant, please let me know. We just moved to Chicago, so I'd love to meet other moms or moms-to-be.
how about we all go to family grounds cafe? i've never been to little beans, but at least family grounds has a parking lot. plus it's a cafe, so if anyone is hungry or wants/needs to feed their little one, there's food, and then a play area for the kiddos.
weekends or weekdays work for me, though, i will warn if it's a weekend, i'm dragging my SO along
and for weekdays, fourish would be ideal for us, but not necessary
Family Grounds or Little Beans would be good for us. I am free on Fridays, Mondays and weekends at the moment.
I agree that brunch wouldn't really work for us either - DD is in constant movement.
Family Grounds has open play from 1-6pm on Mon-Fri.
Would Friday Feb 4th work for everyone? 3pm? 4pm?
i have an ob appointment that afternoon, lol. i can always make the next GTG though.
Same here.
There's a section for infants so you could definitely let you lil' man play
How about this.....I will create an evite. That way we can get an idea of the number of people able to attend. We can shoot for Saturday Feb 5th at 10:30, Family Grounds Cafe.
If you want to be included on the evite for the GTG either post your email on this board or email me privately at kelly.midwife@yahoo.com
See you soon!

I plan a lot of brunches and Yolk and Wishbone will be quite difficult with a large group as they get quite crowded and don't take reservations. If you look on Open Table you will find places that take reservations for brunch. Hub 51 is quite good and takes reservations. Hot Chocolate will take a reservation if you can guarantee a large party. Deleece takes reservations too.
I am not familiar with John's Place or Family Grounds. Is this only for parents or can expecting parents join (though my LO won't be here until June)?
I also work full time.
I sent a private message to you with my email address.
Thanks for the info!
Pregnant women are certainly welcome! Family Grounds should be a good spot because the children can play while we get to know each other.

David is just about 3 months and I'm itching to get out and be social now that we've sort of settled into a routine.

Thanks!
Little Beans is AWESOME, by the way. I went last week and it's just amazing.
KChicago- I emailed you, but in case you didn't get it or it went to your spam inbox, my e-mail is: lizletsch@yahoo.com.
Looking forward to meeting all the moms and moms-to-be!
I think I've added everyones email to the evite. Let me know if you sent me a message (or posted your email here) and haven't received the evite.

Thanks to the girls that were able to make it to the GTG on Saturday! Family Grounds was really neat and we had a good time!
