Laying doggy style

I just wanted to see if anyone else finds this position sooo comfortable. It is a pain to lay on my back and to sit up. I tried laying "doggy style" and my back feels wonderful!! FYI to all you ladies it is such a load off!

  • Do you mean like on you hands and knees? If so then yes I know what you mean. It helps me a lot.

    If you are familiar with Yoga poses, the cat and cow positions do wonders for my back at the end of the day too.

  • I think it's also known as the child pose or something kinda close to it? I know the yoga girls will know what I'm talking about.
  • I try it sometimes, it helps relieve pressure and pain from my back and sides but I don't like the sensation of my belly 'hanging'... : /

    I LOVE childs pose, I like doing it with my knees kinda far apart I feel like it really opens up my hips.

  • Yeah, I do not know about yoga but it sounds the same. What I do is lay in my bed on my knees with my butt in the air and chest resting on the bed. It feels great to just bend in a way you normally wouldn't. I highly suggest it!

  • I do this to relieve my sciatic nerve pain, it works almost immediately!

    Well yes. At this point the knees have to be far apart! haha

  • That position kills my back, and the belly is too big now. But I've heard it's a great position for encouraging your baby to be head-down if he or she is still breech.

    Yup. My OB told me to get down and do this 10 minutes a day (or something like that) to encourage LO to turn.

  • It helps a ton! I also discovered my exercise ball (which is like a birthing ball) is the greatest thing ever! It opens up my hips and helps me relax. I have a hard time sitting up or even laying down from this insane hip/pelvic pain. It's my new "chair".

  • I like doing the cat/cow move to relieve some back pain. So much that sometimes I shut my office door and do it. I am always worried that someone will come in (how funny would that be?), but sitting at my desk all day makes it hard to get comfy.

    Hands and knees can also help a posterior baby turn anterior.
