leg getting stuck in crib side--help

L's has stuck his leg through the crib side twice now in the past 2 weeks.  It then gets stuck and he screams like a banshee.  What can I do to avoid this?  I think that bumpers wouldn't help as (at least in today's instance) he was standing when he put his leg through.

Advice please!  thanks.

Re: leg getting stuck in crib side--help

  • When this started happening to us and it was waking my son up, then we knew it was time to go to a big boy bed. He was a great crib sleeper so we were reluctant to move him but it worked out great and his leg never got stuck again! :)

  • Meredith got her leg stuck so tightly between the crib bars that I had to use baby oil to get her unstuck! We moved her to a toddler bed that night because she was too upset to go back in her crib. It took about a week or so for her to get used to sleeping in the toddler bed. The freedom to get up and wander around the room was tremendously appealing to her at first, and we found her asleep on the floor more than once.
  • Will did that about 3 times and then learned not to do it again :) I'd probably keep him in the crib and see if he'll figure out that getting stuck is not fun...they're smart kiddos!
  • Abby would do that without her sleep sack on. You could get him one of the toddler ones with the open feet. Keep him warm and it keeps their legs from getting stuck.

This is what I was going to suggest.  A Halo Sleepsack.  Not only does it keep LO warm all night because it can't get kicked off, but it prevents legs from getting stuck.

    Can they stand in this?
