Miscarriage/Pregnancy Loss

Not sure, so confused

Okay, I will try not to ramble.

I took an home pregnancy test 2 days before my missed period and it clearly was positive. That was this past Thursday. Yesterday. (Sautrday) I had a little brown color when i went to the bathroom. I was a little concerned so I took another prgnancy test (different brand) and the line was very VERY light. Around midnight I went to the restroom and was shocked when there was blood (similar to a period). Since that one time, there has been no more bleeding, just a light brown when i go to the restroom. I took another test this morning and the line is extremely faint. EXTREMELY faint.

I hate that it is Sunday and have to wait to see the DR tomorrow to get a blood test done. I want to know what is going on. I want to know if this is a miscarriage or just bleeding. I am sooo upset. I also feel like an idiot because my husband and I told people. I was just so excited and never thought in a million years that something like this could happen to me. I just figured that I already have one child with no issues. I know each pregnancy is different, just feeling very foolish.

I know I have no questions for anyone cause there is nothing that can be answered till i get blood work done, but i just feel anxious and need support.

Re: Not sure, so confused

  • Well, until the doctor has done 2 HCG blood draws for you, there's no way to truly know.

    The good news -

    1. The spotting could be from implementation.

    2. Your urine is diluted at different times, which could explain the changing HPTs. Also, no single HPT is the same as another one.

The not so good news -

    1. Vanishing line on HPTs is not a great sign...as the HCG hormone only increases in early preg, it doesn't decrease.

    2. Bleeding is a sign of early miscarriage.

    The okay news -

    1. Even if you are experiencing an early miscarriage or chemical pregnancy,

-It means you and your husband CAN get pregnant

-It means you probably WILL get pregnant again

-It's VERY common to experience something like this, so as horrible as it is, it doesn't mean there's anything "wrong" with you

And so sorry you're going through this emotional roller coaster! Just went through it this week, and while in my case it was an early miscarriage, I hope you have better news. If not, hang around the site. I'm just ready to keep trying!!!

  • Thanks! I just and feeling embarased because we told people. I wish i could have been more patient. Did you tell people you were pregnant? if so, how did you handle it.

also, if it is a miscarriage, how long would a person need to wait to try again? I am/was 4 weeks.

  • We did the same thing. I told my mom, who then told step dad. Hubbie told his parents...and his brother...

My 2 coworkers also know ('ve been keeping them filled in since deciding that we were TTC) and so does my boss (I had to tell him why I wanted to work from home)...

Just tell them you're disappointed, but all is well, and you're both eager to try again!

My doctor told us to wait 2 months, but apparently it doesn't REALLY matter...I think that's more for emotional recovery than anything. I'm just playing it safe and going with that rule, though. In my case, I didn't even experience a regular cycle before getting pregnant...got off birth control mid pack, had withdrawal bleed, and got pregnant at some point...so I figured this would be a good opportunity to see what my cycle is, and not test too early this time around haha.

  • Here's a nice read on the topic, by the way:

Apparently it's good to wait a few months just so your body can get strong again and that way you might be less likely to go through the same process again.

  • I'm there today too.

I just got back from the doctor who told me I'm not pregnant.  He said I could go for blood tests to make sure, but after two clear positives and an EXTREMELY faint positive this morning I'm pretty sure what's up.

Hugs to you.  I hope your results are different
