Knowing I might be able to get a great deal on the Medela Freestyle tomorrow (going to make a few phone calls to various Target stores), I was wondering if it is even a good idea to go ahead and spend the money. I guess what I'm worried about is, what if I take the time to do the dance (buy at one Target, return and re-buy at another Target) and spend the money, and then it turns out after LO is born that I don't have a good supply, or that for some reason I can't pump? Is that a silly question? I just don't want to waste my money if I won't be able to use it. Obviously I am a first-timer, so I might not know what I'm talking about.
Opinions? Advice?
TIA.
Re: Pumping question
You could always rent one until you find out you will continue bfing or pumping exclusivily before you buy one.
But if I do end up pumping/bfing and have to buy one later, I'll kick myself for paying what would probably be full price at that point. There's a battle going on in my mind right now! If it is selling for $94, and I have a coupon for $20 off a Medela pump, as well as a $25 Target gift card, we could potentially only pay $50 or $60 for it.
I think too much.
^ word.
I agree that it sounds like the OP is planning something shady. Why would she have to buy it, return it and rebuy it or whatever she said? Just buy the pump or don't buy it.

Get it, don't open it, and keep the receipt. If you don't use it, return it when LO is born.
Some targets are getting rid of the Freestyle from their inventory and have placed a $379 pump on clearance for $94. Most of the stores that are doing this have sold out. SO...If you buy it at another target for full price and then return it at a target where they would have sold it for $94, then you can repurchase it for that price. It is an amazing deal! I did this yesterday and was completely honest with the people at target. They totally understood why I would want to pay almost $300 less!

Actually, like many people on The Bump, I called the Target store and told them exactly what I was planning on doing. They were completely fine with it. It's not shady at all. I also won't get back store credit. I asked the manager and he said if I have a receipt (which I will, of course), I would get my money back. I think it's smart shopping when you do something that is legal and that the store knows about and is ok with, and you save over $200 in the process!
ETA: Btw, I won't use it until I know I can. If for some reason I can't pump after LO is here, I'll just sell it new in box.
I bought a Medela after seeing a really good sale with BRU and after finding out the cost of renting it from the hospital was almost the same price as buying my own. I'm keeping it unopened/in the box until I'm sure my supply comes in and everything is fine. I'll also be taking advantage of the lactation counselors at the hospital.
I believe the term you are looking for is "price adjustment" learn it and love it.It will be your best friend at Babies R Us, or at least it was for me. Its not really returning it and rebuying it, they are just giving you the difference in what you paid back but they have to scan it in and out of their system to have a paper document to justify the money they are giving out.
