dryer sheets?

I know I'm not supposed to use fabric softener on LO's clothes because it takes away the flame retardant. Can I use dryer sheets though? Lately all of our clothes have been static city. I use All free and clear with no fabric softener on all of our clothes so if LO's accidently get mixed in it won't hurt anything.

TIA Ladies!

Re: dryer sheets?

  • I hear a lot of crap about dryer sheets. I use dryer balls.

ETA: Here is what I found on Dr. Google and I have read about it a few times before.

(I also do not use any types of fabric softeners, either. Even if they are "free and clear.")

  • We use Bounce sensitive/free and gentle whatnot.  LO's been doing just fine.  The whole flame retardant thing doesn't make sense to me.  Pretty sure I'd be more worried about the smoke inhalation.

I haven't looked at everything.  But that information isn't the whole story.  I found a study on one of the chemicals it says is carcinogenic.  The study said that an increased number of liver adenomas and carcinomas in mice and/or rats that INGESTED the chemical in large quantities.  I don't believe anyone is eating large quantities of dryer sheets, but I guess I could be wrong.

Also, some of those chemicals are found in other natural things like flowers.  So I don't think they are that bad.  Lastly, everything causes cancer nowadays.  I think people freak out too much.

We use dryer sheets and DS is fine.
