Infertility

What time should we do injections?

We will begin follistim and menopor tomorrow, but we aren't sure when to start exactly. The instructions from the RE say to do them in the "afternoon/evening", but I forgot to ask when would be the best time. Any ideas? Also, is it important that we do it at the exact same time everyday, or is there a little wiggle room? Thanks!

We also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And HOPE does not dissappoint.

Re: What time should we do injections?

  • We've always done all of my shots (except for the trigger, of course) at 9:00. By that time we are home, done with dinner and ready to go. It really doesn't matter as long as it is late enough in the day that you will have already gotten your call for your instructions, in case you have to increase/decrease dosages or coast or something.

They told me as close to the exact same time as possible for stims...about a 15 minute window on each side of the time that I chose.

  • All of my meds needed to happen at the same time every day - RE suggested between 6 and 9p.  I ended up doing everything pretty much at 730p so we were right in the middle of the timeframe and I knew I'd be home from work by that time.
    TTC since May 2009 - DOR (ovarian cancer) DE w RBA December 2011 - transferred one embryo 12/14 - three frosties Beta #1 - 129 (12/22) Beta #2 - ? (12/26)
  • I have to do the menupor in the morning and the follistim in the evening.  They didn't give me an exact time, but said I have to pick a time and that it has to be within a half hour window every time.

  • We do stims and lupron at 8:30 pm every night. It varies a few minutes but we try to be precise. I do lurpon at 8:30 am because they have to be 12 hours apart. :) Good luck, it's so exciting to start!

  • Our IVF nurse told us to do them between 6 & 9 pm.  We didn't do them at the exact same time every day.
  • We were told to begin follistim in the AM, and menopur in the evening with at last a 10 hour break in between the 2 medicines. They recommended administering it at the same time daily (but no more than an hour past or earlier).
  • Our clinic gave us a window of 5pm-9pm.  I pick 7pm because we're both home by then.  My nurse said they don't have to be given at the exact same time every day by to stick to a one hour window.  So I can do the shots anytime between 6:30 and 7:30.

    GL!!

  • I do my injections at 8pm and try to keep it within 30 minutes of that time every night.  We're usually home and done with dinner and dishes by then.
